MLC 2006

The maritime labour convention 2006 was created in order to set global labour standards in the yachting industry.

It aims to insure decent labour conditions to seafarers, for example decent working hours, contract, insurance.

It was inspired by pre-existing labour standards in the maritime sector, and it has updated and consolidated them to create an up to date global regulation.

This new international regulation is to be implemented by all ship owners organizations from 2013.
